Player Ratings – Newcastle

Jack Butland – 7

Couldn’t blame him for conceding the two he did. Could’ve been more without him being so quick of his line.

Mame Diouf – 5

Lost Atsu for Newcastle’s first, was beat too easily down the right and didn’t do anything going forward, put a last minute chance wide we it should’ve at least been on target.

Bruno Martins Indi – 7

Most solid defender on the day, did what was needed defensively and was calm on the ball, superb late cross that unfortunately Diouf couldn’t convert.

Kevin Wimmer – 4

Terrible from Wimmer, didn’t attack the ball from the corner that led to Newcastle’s second, was beaten in the air on too many occasions and another who was beat far too easily.

Kurt Zouma – 6

Worst Stoke performance to date, was beaten to easily at times and committed himself at the wrong times.

Erik Pieters – 6

No mistakes from Pieters today, didn’t do anything going forward but was comfortable enough defensively.

Joe Allen – 3

Should’ve bit Swansea’s hands off for £25 Million in August, was absolutely useless today, misplaced multiple passes and ran into trouble when on the ball. Would actually consider giving Adam a start and that’s saying something.

Darren Fletcher – 7

Couldn’t fault the man again today, battled so hard in the centre and wasn’t helped at all by his useless midfield partner, calm on the ball and always did the right thing.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 7

Provided a lovely finish for the leveler, caused Newcastle problems down the right and was by far the biggest threat on the day.

Jese Rodriguez – 4

Nothing he did came off and made hardly impact on the game at all, rightly took off in the second half.

Maxim Choupo Moting – 6

Nothing compared to his performance last week, did well when on the ball and made a couple decent passes but didn’t cause Newcastle any problems, blazed a glorious late chance well over.

Ramadan Sobhi – 5

Looked good when coming on and had Yedlin all over the place, if he learnt when to play the ball instead of trying to continually beat the same man he would easily get a game on weekly basis, a lot to learn but promising.

Peter Crouch – N/A

Had little time to make an impact and probably should’ve came on earlier, good knock down to Choupo who couldn’t convert.
