Player Ratings – Newcastle

Jack Butland – 7

Couldn’t blame him for conceding the two he did. Could’ve been more without him being so quick of his line.

Mame Diouf – 5

Lost Atsu for Newcastle’s first, was beat too easily down the right and didn’t do anything going forward, put a last minute chance wide we it should’ve at least been on target.

Player Ratings – Manchester United

Jack Butland – 8

Quality performance from England’s number one, a couple good saves mainly with his legs but a point saving save right at the end from Zouma stood out the most, couldn’t fault him for either goal, what a man!

Mame Diouf – 7.5

Looks more comfortable in a wing back role now. Made good progress down the right and did well to create Moting’s first, much improved defensively.

Player Ratings – West Brom

Jack Butland – 6

Was hardly called into action all game apart from some aerial collections that he wasn’t bothered too much by, stood no chance with their goal. Had a little moment completely out of character when messing up a simple gathering of the ball and conceded a corner.

Geoff Cameron – 6

Made some good progress down the right but some poor crossing let him down. Lost Rodriguez for their goal, definitely need an out and out right wing-back in the next few days.

Player Ratings – Arsenal

Jack Butland – 9 – MOTM

A top class performance showing everyone exactly why he is England’s number one. Hard to believe how quick he was of his line and diving in front of everything making himself big and strong. Was a little fortunate to get away with one near post save that slipped away from him but other than that a faultless performance.

Mame Diouf – 6

Decided to give Diouf a low rating as he came far too close to losing the game for us. Should have gave away a penalty for a silly challenge on Bellerin then was also lucky not to give away another late in the second half. He did make good progress down the wing but lacked the final ball, committed himself in challenges far too much, goes to show that we must sign an actual right wing-back and not use a player we signed as a striker.

Player Ratings – Everton

Jack Butland – 6

Couldn’t really fault him for the goal but not really called into any big action apart from this, done all the basics well as you would expect.

Mame Diouf – 6

Put in a good enough shift for a striker in right wing-back. Was good going forward and used the space he had well, although crossing could’ve been better with very few balls reaching a Stoke man.

Jack Butland – 6

Although letting four goals in you couldn’t really fault Jack for any of them, pulled of a few decent saves to make sure the day didn’t get even worse.

Glen Johnson – 3

Shocking performance. Monreal couldn’t believe his luck with the space Johnson gave him, when he made progress going forward the ball into the box let him down, caught out multiple times by numerous Arsenal players.

Jack Butland – 6

Rarely called into action and couldn’t do much about both goals despite one going through his legs although it was from close range and hit with some pace.

Glen Johnson – 6

Can’t really fault anything that he did, good going forward and did he job defensively.

Jack Butland – 7

Made some superb saves and showed his lightning reflexes. Could question his passing at times and was lucky to get away with a miss kick.

Glen Johnson – 5

Went forward well but lacked any end product apart from a nice ball into Allen who couldn’t convert. Lost possession a few too many times and was defensively poor.

Finally brought myself to watch the game and write a blog on it, oh my, lets get this over and done with….

Jack Butland – 7

Left with no chance with the Llorente header and couldn’t be blamed for the Carroll goal after the wicked deflection, made a wonderful save to prevent Carroll getting a second. Done all the other basics well, Lovely to see him back.

Glen Johnson – 6

Average defensive display but made good progress down the right although it came to absolutely nothing.
