Player Ratings – Brighton

Lee Grant – 5

Poor for Brighton’s first when just falling to the ground, rarely called into action otherwise.

Mame Diouf – 5

Was nowhere to be seen when Izquierdo was running at us, got the ball into decent positions going forward but did nothing with it.

Kevin Wimmer – 6

Good challenge on Murray in the early stages but was caught out of position a few times, not as bad as some made out.

Kurt Zouma – 6

Had problems dealing with Izquierdo throughout and was at fault for Brighton’s second equaliser with a pathetic excuse of a headed clearance. Did make some good challenges and found himself in the right place at the right time with his goal.

Ryan Shawcross – 7

Caused Brighton numerous issues from corners and forced a good save from Ryan himself, was very lucky not to cost us a penalty but the strongest defender on the day.

Erik Pieters – 6

Defensively sound on the day apart from one incident near the end when he completely sold himself. Going forward was useless, every cross was wasted.

Darren Fletcher – 6

Wasting possession from open play and his delivery from set pieces was inconsistent, far from his best.

Joe Allen – 7

Noticed an improvement with Allen recently and last night was no different, drove forward with the ball well and covered a lot of ground. Passing was pretty good and linked up well with the front three.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 7

What a ball for Moting, was unlucky not to score himself just before coming off.

Maxim Choupo Moting – 7

A little luck with his touch but good finish nevertheless. Managed to head the ball across to Zouma who converted for our second.

Ramadan Sobhi – 7

Forced save from Ryan after some good linkup with Allen, made some good forward runs and tracked back pretty well.

Peter Crouch – N/A

Rarely had any touches when coming on to break the bench warmer record.
