His defence did everything therefore Jack was left with hardly anything to do, turned up and caught a few balls.
Mame Diouf – 6.5
Defended pretty well and made good progress up the right flank although did waste possession a few times.
Kevin Wimmer – 7
Much improved, was solid throughout, took care of everything he needed to.
Kurt Zouma – 7.5
Unbeatable on the day, showed his strength throughout and dominant in the air.
Ryan Shawcross – 8 – MOTM
Kept Deeney in his pocket the full ninety minutes, nothing troubled him both in the air and on the ground, what a performance.
Erik Pieters – 6.5
Beaten too easily down the left a couple times and lost his man once or twice, still did well to contribute to the clean sheet at times.
Darren Fletcher – 8
Beautiful finish and a strong performance from start to finish, did his work defensively and done some good work on the ball.
Joe Allen – 6.5
Grafted hard and made some good challenges, he was beaten too easily at times and ran into trouble on multiple occasions. Should have at least got a shot on target but dragged it wide from a Sobhi cut back.
Xherdan Shaqiri – 7
A perfect delivery to Fletcher, right of the training ground, played a lovely ball to Berahino which should have been his second assist. Did struggle to stay on his feet, someone needs to check his studs.
Maxim Choupo Moting – 6.5
Ran around well and displayed some good hold up play, didn’t actually trouble the Watford defence too much.
Ramadan Sobhi – 7
Tracked back very well and made good progress down the left, did let his ran go from a corner and a couple times from open play. Overall a very energetic display.
Saido Berahino – 5
Came on with twelve minutes to go, another glorious chance, another miss. Somehow didn’t pick up an assist.
Charlie Adam – 1
Came on, missed an open goal, full time whistle went.
