Player Ratings – Chelsea

Jack Butland – 4

Faced four shots on target and conceded, left with no chance for three of the four but beat by a dink at the near post for Chelsea’s third that could’ve been dealt with better, other than the goals he was not called into no other action.

Mame Diouf – 6

Did well going forward and was unlucky with his overhead kick but did Azpilicueta get away who assisted Chelsea’s fourth.

Glen Johnson – 4

Let Morata run away for the first then gave the ball away for Morata’s second, partly made up for with two near enough goal line clearances but overall it simply wasn’t good enough.

Bruno Martins Indi – 6

Understandably the most solid of the back three, made some good challenges but could also be blamed for not doing enough for the ball over the top that Morata converted, will be missed when he’s out with his injury.

Erik Pieters – 6

Did better than most people thought as the left centre back, a little sloppy and beating too easily at times.

Ramadan Sobhi – 6

Always played the right ball going forward and made progress down the left, also tracked back but could question his defending.

Joe Allen – 5

Made some good runs into space and had a couple strikes at goal but was poor and sloppy on the ball.

Darren Fletcher – 5

Gifted Pedro his goal and was easily beaten by Morata for his second, had a glorious chance to make up for it but somehow missed.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 7

Most attacks went through him and made numerous chances to get back in the game, mainly through set pieces, best Stoke player on the pitch by a significant margin.

Jese Rodriguez – 4

Didn’t make any impact and forgot he was even on the pitch at times, would definitely look at other options against Southampton.

Maxim Choupo Moting – 7

Didn’t make a huge impact but linked up well at times, especially with Shaqiri. Worked hard overall and should’ve won a penalty

Peter Crouch – 5

Made a couple of decent knock downs that led to nothing, lost possession a couple times and was lucky to not be sent off after a late, high challenge.

Ibrahim Afellay – N/A

Not sure why he came on for the injured Bruno when Souttar was on the bench. Nice to see him back but didn’t have the chance to make an impact.
