Player Ratings – West Brom
Jack Butland – 6
Was hardly called into action all game apart from some aerial collections that he wasn’t bothered too much by, stood no chance with their goal. Had a little moment completely out of character when messing up a simple gathering of the ball and conceded a corner.
Geoff Cameron – 6
Made some good progress down the right but some poor crossing let him down. Lost Rodriguez for their goal, definitely need an out and out right wing-back in the next few days.
Ryan Shawcross – 7
Made a vital clearance in the first half and handled whatever West Brom came at us with. Solid game from the skipper.
Bruno Martins Indi – 7
Welcome home Bruno! Probably the least busy of the three centre backs however did all that he needed to, had half a chance when the ball came to him from a corner but put it wide.
Kurt Zouma – 7
Would’ve been much higher if he wasn’t caught ball watching for their goal but apart from that it was another top quality performance, was excellent driving forward and playing long balls especially when going into right back for the closing stages, was unlucky that his deflected shot didn’t end up in the back of the net, what a player!
Erik Pieters – 6.5
Defensively sound and made some good forward runs but nothing came from them, over hit a couple crosses as per usual and picked up a silly yellow for a challenge on Nyom early on.
Joe Allen – 7
An improvement on the last couple games, grafts so hard every game which we can not let go unnoticed, passing was better but still sloppy at times with some misplaced and others too short.
Darren Fletcher – 8 – MOTM
To think Fletcher didn’t cost us a single penny is crazy, been superb every game so far, covered so much ground and always came out of tackles on top, dictated the play with his calm passing and made some lovely long range passes.
Xherdan Shaqiri – 6
Thought it was a pretty quiet one for Shaq today, went missing at times, did show his skill when on the ball but nothing really came from it.
Maxim Choupo Moting – 6
He gave it his all but Choupo simply isn’t a striker, showed his skill when on the ball similar to Shaq but again, nothing came from it. However did give Tom Daley a run for his money with some cheeky little dives.
Jese Rodriguez – 4
Didn’t turn up at all today, made some runs and got himself into space but he simply couldn’t find his way out of Nyom’s pocket. Could have tried harder to prevent the cross coming in for their goal and rightly took of straight after going one goal down. Very poor compared to last week.
Peter Crouch – 6
Couldn’t exactly miss when the ball somehow found it’s way to him, didn’t do anything else apart from score the easiest goal of his career.
Ramadan Sobhi – 7
Looked dangerous upon coming in and he somehow picked up an assist. Wouldn’t mind seeing him get a go in right wing-back if we don’t fetch one in.
