Player Ratings : Southampton
After a pretty surprising victory against Southampton, we do the player ratings for the last time this season…
Jack Butland – 8
Still clueless to what was he thinking at end of first half although I suppose it rules out Pep Guardiola signing him up anytime soon. On the basis of his second half performance it would be a 10, numerous quality saves, he even slipped and still managed to save a one on one.
Geoff Cameron – 6
Didn’t look to comfortable on the right side of a back three, had time on the ball but ended up booting it into the crowd and his passing let him down like it so often has this season. Although a special mention to that beauty of a cross for Crouch’s goal.
Ryan Shawcross – 7
Made his fair share of clearances and dominated in the air, overall a solid defensive showing from Ryan.
Bruno Martins Indi – 7
A solid showing in what was potentially his last game in a Stoke shirt, sniffed out any danger and dealt with it all comfortably. A dominant display from the most consistent performer we had this season. Please sign him up!
Mame Diouf – 6
Best chances fell to Mame in the first half, was unlucky with his header cleared off the line and the other being a simple save for Forster. Was exposed defensively at times but did work hard throughout.
Glenn Whelan – 7
Gave to defence the protection they needed and passing was more often than not successful.
Joe Allen – 6
Didn’t make a huge impact and was poor going forward, however it was another game where he gave it his all.
Erik Pieters – 5
Quite happy I don’t need to watch Pieters for a while now, defensively shakey, poor passing and his final ball into the box let him down as per usual. Desperately need a new left back next season!
Xherdan Shaqiri – 5
For the majority of the game he didn’t look interested, most of his crosses were nowhere near good enough. Came alive towards the end of the game when he moved into a number ten role but you still expect a lot more from him.
Peter Crouch – 6
Not including his goal, he realistically didn’t have any significant impact, his pace let him down and his end product was erratic. Nevertheless, his beautiful headed goal won us the game so it wasn’t all bad.
Ramadan Sobhi – 8
Caused Southampton problems each time he had the ball, some good link up play and a superbly display of his skill. Made Hughes look like an idiot for not selecting him more.
Jon Walters – 5
Worked hard down the right when coming on but made little impact overall.
Marc Muniesa – N/A
Came on for the final moments in what looks like his final game for the club.
For the last time this season, make sure you let us know what you agree and disagree with. Thank God it’s all over now.
