Player Ratings : West Ham
Jack Butland – 7
Made some superb saves and showed his lightning reflexes. Could question his passing at times and was lucky to get away with a miss kick.
Glen Johnson – 5
Went forward well but lacked any end product apart from a nice ball into Allen who couldn’t convert. Lost possession a few too many times and was defensively poor.
Ryan Shawcross – 8
A solid showing from the skipper, making some vital blocks and interceptions, please can somebody sort out his contract extension now.
Bruno Martins Indi – 8
I could basically copy and paste the Shawcross paragraph here. Did all his defensive duties to a good standard, both centre backs had a quality game, sign him up.
Marc Muniesa – 7
PIETERS IS DROPPED! About time! For somebody who realistically is not a left back, this was a quality showing. His link up play with Arnie was good, made good progress down the left and his crossing was lovely, a Stoke left back picked out his man in the box, scenes. Looked a little dodgy defensively the odd time but overall he was good enough.
Glenn Whelan – 7
Did what he was there to do, protected to back four well and very comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Geoff Cameron – 6
Protected the back four well just like Glenn but going forward with the ball wasn’t the best, frequently losing possession and breaking down our attacks.
Joe Allen – 7
Caused the West Ham defence a few issues with his runs into the box, had a couple chances but neither could hit the target. Grafted hard as per usual and his passing was good enough.
Xherdan Shaqiri – 7
Put his pace and skill to good use and created a few chances had a chance from close range go wide although the pace of the ball was not in his favour.
Saido Berahino – 6
Had a couple chances, forced a solid save from Adrian and was denied by a quality Reid block. Still no goals in twelve games and he still seems to he lacking that sharpness that a striker needs.
Marko Arnautovic – 7
Created his fair share of chances and was unlucky not to get a goal after a ball from Shaqiri was just that little but too high.
Peter Crouch – 5
Came on for the last twenty minutes and caused West Ham a problem when the ball was swung in although it came to nothing.
Charlie Adam – N/A
Came on for the last ten minutes (for some reason) didn’t do anything really worth mentioning. No rating.
