Player Ratings: Boro
Easy three points against one of, if not the poorest side in the league. Lets rate…
Lee Grant – 6
Done nothing worth mentioning. Did well with the ball at his feet. Gets a 6 for just turning up.
Glen Johnson – 7
Pretty solid performance, Traore looked the most threatening player going forward, Johnson coped well with him in the first half. Supported attacks well as always.
Ryan Shawcross – 6
Could’ve easily have got himself an assist when ending up running at goal with 3 men infront of him. Didn’t have too much to deal with but seemed a bit sloppy with the ball at his feet. Won his fair share of aerial battles and knocked the ball around the back well.
Bruno Martins Indi – 8
A solid defensive display from Bruno, quality performance, won 99% of his battles. Worrying scenes with his injury.
Eric Pieters – 6
Coped well with Traore when he switched sides in the second half but committed a few fouls and gave away possession a little too much.
Glenn Whelan – 8
Played a lovely long ball into Arnie for his first and a good delivery to pick out Crouch for Arnie’s second. As always did his defensive duties well.
Geoff Cameron- 8
So good to have him back, protected the defence but also giving us more of an edge when going forward.
Marko Arnautovic – 8
Took down the Whelan ball so well and did fantastic to take it around Valdes, managed to adjust his body well for his second. Ripped poor George Friend to shreds, created his fair share of chances and took his own too. Quality performance. Vintage Arnie.
Joe Allen – 7
A slight improvement on his recent performances but that didn’t take much. Bizarrely got named man of the match from the sponsors.
Ramadan Sobhi – 9 – MOTM
Amazing. What a performance! Made a mockery of the Boro defence, created a few chances, did his defensive duties well when called upon. Unlucky not to score when knocking one of the bar 6 yards out and also with a near post header that unfortunately Valdes was equal to. So much potential, what a man.
Peter Crouch – 6
His speed let him down at times today, lovely assist knocking it down into Arnie for his second. Personality feel it’s about time we saw Berahino over him.
Mame Diouf – 6
Caused Fabio a little bit of bother but nothing too much. Used some his pace well when coming on.
Saido Berahino – 5
Had a shot that caused no issues. Looked sharpe but realistically did nothing, although understandable after just playing ten minutes when 2-0 up. He’s long overdue a start.
Ibrahim Afellay – N/A
Can’t judge the lad after 6 minutes. Couple passes and potentially should’ve scored after being stuck through by Sobhi. Big shout out for getting a new contract though.
