Player Ratings : Chelsea

Good performance but a bad result, we can take positives from that but certain players really do need looked at…

Lee Grant – 5

Horrific goalkeeping for first goal, although this didn’t put him down and made some good saves from Alonso and Pedro in particular. Butland shouldn’t have a problem walking into the starting 11, hopefully for Leicester. Take nothing away from Grant, who up to today was our most consistent performer his season.

Phil Bardsley – 4

Picked up two stupid yellow cards, one for a needless and high challenge, the other for a dangerous late challenge. Went missing at times and struggled to cope with Pedro. No question Johnson is the superior fullback.

Ryan Shawcross – 6

Average display from Shawcross, clearly set on winding up Costa which he got a bit too involved in. Some dodgy decisions with the ball at his feet and struggled at times in dealing with Costa but dealt with anything in the air to a good standard.

Bruno Martins Indi – 7

Strongest of the back 4 today, unlucky to have his goal disallowed after a silly push by Berahino. Dealt with Costa better than his defensive partner but still lost him a couple times but frustrated him well.

Eric Pieters – 3

Some piss poor crossing (as usual), pathetic defending for Chelsea’s winner. Couldn’t deal with Willian, he’s had far too many poor performances this season, Muniesa must play ahead of him, deserves to be dropped.

Marko Arnautovic – 6

One of Arnie’s more poor performances, silly free kick to give away for the Willian goal, used his pace well and did some good defensive work but didn’t cause any real threat.

Geoff Cameron – 8 – MOTM

Any midfielder is in for battle when you up aghast Chelsea but he did really well. Provided the defence with protection and contributed going forward. We look a much better side with him in.

Joe Allen – 7

Really good display from Allen, ran very well (as always) and was pretty good on the ball, made some good challenges and similar to Cameron, did well in battle with the Chelsea midfielder. Now back to his best playing in that deeper role.

Ramadan Sobhi – 6

Again, not his best performance recently but did make some runs down the left which caused Chelsea a few issues. Could question him for turning his back for the Willian goal but did track back and defended well just look his fellow winger.

Johnathan Walters – 6

Executed his penalty that he won very well, used his power in holding the ball up. Didn’t do anything to cause Chelsea any bother.

Saido Berahino – 4

Ran around but did nothing once again, stupidly pushed Matic to disallow Indi’s equaliser.

Mame Diouf – 4

Didn’t have much of an impact but did put his fresh legs to good use down the right.

Peter Crouch – N/A

Zero touches in two minutes.
