Player Ratings : West Brom
After another defeat to West Brom that really was painful to watch, we look into who performed and who didn’t.
Lee Grant – 8
Not too much he could’ve done with the goal, some great saves from Rondon’ and McClean’s powerful strikes and picked out a Stoke shirt nine times out of ten. My man of the match.
Phil Bardsley – 6
Difficult time dealing with Chadli, should’ve done more to prevent him playing the ball into Morrison for the goal, not forgetting his usual pointless long range effort.
Ryan Shawcross – 7
Coped well with what West Brom offered and came close to scoring from an Adam corner. Defensively sound.
Bruno Martins Indi – 7
Similar to his defensive partner, coped well with the West Brom strike force. Gave us some hope with his solid defensive work.
Eric Pieters – 6
Similar to Bardsley, had trouble at times dealing with the West Brom threat out wide, this time with Phillips, had a good chance to level the scoring.
Glenn Whelan – 6
Could’ve done more to prevent the goal and made some stupid decisions on the ball. Although did make some good challenges and interceptions to stop West Brom putting the game to bed.
Charlie Adam – 5
Lost his footing a few times, one time nearly costing us big time. Struggled to find that killer ball like he often found midweek. Not his best performance, wasted possession far too much… Whats new?
Ibrahim Afellay – 5
Didn’t do too much, horrific crossing, rightly subbed off, shouldn’t be playing in that position. Ever.
Joe Allen – 6
Found space well in West Broms half but poor on the ball, one of the best chances fell to him at the end of the 1st half but a pretty simple save for Foster. Did some good defensive work. For the fourth week in a row… He is not a number 10. Another one who’s performance has been below standard as of late.
Marko Arnautovic – 6
Nothing too much to shout about this performance, didn’t cause Nyom too many issues, picked out Allen well who should’ve scored. Far from his best, seems to be lacking a little confidence as of late
Peter Crouch – 5
West Brom defence were never really troubled by him, didn’t do too much, yes he hit a huge landmark midweek but this game wasn’t the kind of game he should start.
Sadio Berahino – 3
Done absolutely nothing.
Julien N’Goy – 6
Didn’t do that much, picked the wrong options at times but looked very lively and looked more of a threat than the more senior players. (Quick reminder to Stoke fans that he is 19 and never started a Premier League game)
Mame Diouf – 6
Looked much more dangerous than Afellay, didn’t cause West Brom too many problems.
I’m sure you will be fuming at some of these so, as always, be sure to tell us what you think!
