Player Ratings : Everton
After coming away with a point that could’ve been so easily three, we look at how individuals performed yesterday evening.
Lee Grant – 8
Nothing too major to deal with apart from an absolute wonder save late on from a Davies header, nothing he could’ve done with the goal. Done all the basics well, no trouble taking crosses.
Phil Bardsley – 8
Apart from his Adam impersonation with a horrific long shot, a solid performance from Bardo, went forward well and was at ease with whatever Everton had to offer in attack.
Ryan Shawcross: 8
Nothing he could’ve done with his own goal (the referee got it spot on), but one of his more solid performances this season, not troubled by Lukaku. His solid performance was backed up by the whole “Ryan Shawcross is better than Ashley Williams” malarkey doing the rounds on Stoke Twitter.
Bruno Martins Indi – 8
Similar to Shawcross a highly comfortable performance, not troubled by Lukaku and put his pace and strength to good use.
Erik Pieters – 7
The biggest weakness of the back four. Struggled to deal with Coleman, Everton looked most dangerous when coming down our left.
Glenn Whelan – 8.5
Throughout this season Whelan has got a lot of stick for his performances but as of late he has shown exactly why we need him. He may not be the best on the ball in terms of making forward passes but today, once again he was excellent defensively, gave our back four the protection they needed. A defensively top quality performance, certainly not an easy role to play when your up aghast a midfield like Everton. My man of the match.
Charlie Adam – 8
I’m not sure how to start this one. We had his usual possession wasting antics such as the simple misplaced passes and his signature shot from the half way line but we he was fantastic the majority of the game, amazing ball for Arnie’s assist into Crouch and not to mention then quality run and cheeky dink into Arnie’s path. By far is best performance in a long time.
Ibrahim Afellay – 6
Not the best. Forgot he was on the pitch at times, I’d struggle to tell you what position he was in as the game got on. Although when on the ball he did show his quality.
Joe Allen – 7
Not his best performance he’s but not his worse, certainly not a number 10 but still did a good job. You can’t overlook his running, covered every blade of grass on the pitch, so important to getting that point.
Marko Arnautovic – 7
Oh Arnie. After a lovely assist early on it was shaping up to be a good little game. Should’ve scored after the Adam run and dink into him and certainty should’ve scored the similar chance towards the end of the first half, taking it around Robles being by far the better option that unfortunately he didn’t take. Definitely could’ve came away with the win if his finish was up to scratch.
Peter Crouch – 7
Mission accomplished. Took his goal well even though it was probably harder to miss, was unlucky with a volley that narrowly went wide. Yeah he got his 100th but not too much else to comment on. Became irrelevant the more the game went on and probably should’ve came off. Obviously have to mention the robot and the huge achievement he eventually reached, looking forward to his 100 club on Sky.
Sadio Berahino – 6
The debut boy. Had a lovely chance to score that he unfortunately couldn’t finish, other than that he didn’t do that much in the 25 minutes he had. Although did look sharp for someone “unfit and overweight”
Julien N’Goy – N/A
Deployed far too late in the game to give a rating to.
Overall I’m happy with the point after a pretty decent performance. As always I’m sure you lot disagree with some a few of these so be sure to tell us what your in disagreement with!
