Twitter Reacts: Deadline Day Edition

Under Mark Hughes our transfer deadline days have been an uneventful date on the football calendar with very little action other than wrapping up deals that had dragged out over the whole window. But this year we treated to the sheer mayhem, crisis briefing, red button pressing, Pulis-esque last minute deal bonanza. Before I start to look at how this went down on twitter, I’m going to start with sad note of Philipp Wollscheid’s and Joselu’s departures on loan, we’re only covering positive news tonight so, much like Mark Hughes first XI, these two will not feature; good luck in the future lads!

The day began with hope and trepidation as fans and pundits alike waited for news to begin to break.

But then the news began to break of the entourage’s of several players arriving at Clayton Wood.

And finally we had our first announcement as Man City Midfielder Fabian Delph Derby Goalkeeper Lee Grant was announced on a short term loan.

Obviously not the biggest of names, but then our new prolific striker was announced, and… well twitter went a bit weird there for a few minutes, see for yourself.

But the overall feeling was that this was an excellent capture whilst also being a promising move to reconstruct Bony’s career.

But bare in mind the poor Swansea fans becoming increasingly jealous of our squad.

Then the third loan signing of the day was announced with Dutch international Bruno Martens Indi making his way to Staffordshire.

Man of few words, which makes his career choice of pundit seem even more unusual, Phil Neville.

Sadly this was all for Stoke on this deadline day and an illustrious fourth move did not materialise.

Unfortunately a tireless twitter campaign (#FreeBerahino) was not enough to bring a man the freedom he deserves.

And what would be a deadline day without Stoke’s resident jokers putting their traditional stamp on the proceedings?

Overall there was a huge sense of relief and joy over the final day scramble, and the boiling hot freezing cold nature of the fan base was best summarised in this final tweet.
